Business Technology Standard Practitioner Certification Course

During the Business Technology Standard (BT Standard) Practitioner course, you will get familiarised with the Business Technology Standard’s open-source extension materials and learn how to use the different models and concepts within an organisation’s high-level operating model.

Attending the Business Technology Standard Practitioner course requires you to have the BT Standard Green Card certification. Please, see the instructions for the BT Standard Green card certification test here

The course is recommended for people who want to:

  • know what different elements of the BT Standard are and how they work together
  • learn how to make use of BT Standard’s models and frameworks
  • take all available materials into use without adjustments

After the 2-day course, the participants can take the certification test and after passing the test, the participants get the BT extension materials (as PDFs) according to the list below:

DAY 1: The Business Technology Operating Model
17.10.2022, 10 AM to 6 PM

During this training day you will learn:

  • which elements are needed to take business technology into use in an organisation
  • the purpose of value streams and what types of value streams can be designed
  • how the identity-based BT roles and responsibilities model can be used in practice
  • how to support the minimum viable governance principles with the three-level governance model
DAY 2: Data Governance and End-to-End Development
18.10.2022, 10 AM to 6 PM

During this training day you will learn:

  • what is needed to design and implement business-focused governance practices for data management
  • how to use the BT Standard best-practice methodologies and models for end-to-end development
  • how to select the best-fit methodology for the development flows
  • the essential principles and practices for efficient management of services throughout their lifecycle

  • The cost of the 2-day training programme is 1800 € (+ VAT) including the Business Technology Standard certification exam.

I try to keep things simple and bring my skills when I coach and facilitate to inspire people and help them innovate. I’m passionate about all forms of facilitation and coaching be it face-to-face or virtual facilitation. I also enjoy creating different e-learning training, holding innovation workshops and design thinking hackathons.

I also find it very important to nurture my creative side along the way (visual arts: photography, sketching, videography and all areas of design) through both my work and hobbies – which I’m happy to say I get to do often enough.

I work as coach and facilitator in the Business Technology Academy. My focus is business simulation games such as the DevOps simulation. I consider myself a full-stack Business Technology professional of sorts. During the past 20+ years, I’ve worked in wide range of various IT and business management roles in and with organizations ranging from global enterprises to startups in a variety of industries.

I enjoy looking for new perspectives to phenomena and challenging myself and others to continuously develop ourselves and to expand our thinking. Being in the discomfort zone is the way to grow. As a coach I like to cross breed theoretical frameworks, practical examples, illuminating stories and humour. I see simulation games as a perfect way to combine these into an engaging and fun day.    

I enjoy exploring life through various projects and experiments. Some of these involve focused self-development both physically and mentally, while others focus more on creative aspirations related to areas like photography, writing and digital media.

I started my career as an interpreter and translator and ended up in IT or – as we call it today – business technology. Despite of many roles I’ve assumed during my 20 + career in IT, there is one common nominator in all of them: I have always been involved in training activities as a trainer/coach, content planner, facilitator or leading the training business.

My view is that, instead of pouring the information to anybody’s head – which, I think, is impossible – a trainer’s job is to remove the obstacles for learning, whether that means packaging the topics into human size-chunks, creating an atmosphere that promotes learning, inserting hooks to keep on the trainees’ interest and simply making the learning experience fun and worthwhile.

As to my personal life, I try to reserve time to relax by reading, knitting, and walking in the forest with my dog. The last activity, by the way. Is also an excellent way to come up with good ideas for the training courses.
